Since its opening in the summer of 2011, the Croatian Hotel Lone represents a place that truly inspires. It is an eye-catching modern building located next to a centuries-old forest park in a sparkling bay, and only a short stroll from the picturesque Istrian town of Rovinj.
As a member of the exclusive lifestyle brand Design Hotels™, the Lone has a unique design concept that skilfully combines cultural heritage with local contemporary art and design.
Lone was designed as a contemporary expression of the classic Croatian resort hotel from the 1970s, with sea-facing terraces and large lobbies. A unique collaboration between Croatian designers and artists, the hotel was designed by architectural studio 3LHD, who worked with Croatian/Austrian designers Numen For Use to decorate the interiors and design bespoke furniture.
Hotel Lone’s interiors are based on the theme of contrast, with fabric used as the connecting element. This varies from a thin ‘veil’ in the restaurant separating operational and seating areas; to decorative murals in the lobby and dynamic wall features inspired by Istrian frescoes in the guestrooms.
The bright and open lobby area features white stone surfaces, fabrics in tones of beige and gold, and furniture with oval lines, echoing the curve of the building’s exterior. Conceptual artist Ivana Franke created a large hanging sculpture titled “Room for running Ghosts” for the lobby. Made of steel and measuring 8.7m, the sculpture’s solid elements entwine without actually touching, creating an impression of weightlessness and suspension.
Colours and materials in the 248 spacious guest rooms are more muted with warmer, darker fabrics, wood, including Slavonian oak, and terrazzo. All rooms, including the 11 suites and one presidential suite of 129
square metres, have either sea views or views onto the Golden Cape Forest Park, with balconies featuring laminated mirrors placed alternately on side walls to reflect light and an image of the surrounding forest.
Slow food or delicious canapés, regional or central European cuisine, a fusion of traditional and modern Mediterranean specialties - in the restaurants of the Hotel Lone "Resolution Signature", "Restaurant On" and the "Lobby Bar Lone" there is something for every taste. The Lone Hotel has been offering RevoLution cooking classes and a demo kitchen since 2017 and promotes healthy eating as part of its ResoLution restaurant.
One of the main attractions of the Hotel Lone is the spa. The 1,700 m² spa area provides relaxation and regeneration in a high-quality design and an interior design inspired by calm minimalism.
